Ziggy’s Barber Shop is hosting a series of pop-up live music nights featuring established and emerging female artists. To kick off the party, we are opening with two of Sydney’s most exciting new electro pop artists, Lupa J and XIRA.
Lupa J’s fresh sound immediately attracted the attention of international music tastemakers when she posted her first three songs on Soundcloud at the tender age of 15. Nominated by Triple J as an Unearthed High finalist in 2014 and 2015 as well as named by FBi as ‘2019 artist to watch’, Lupa J has proven herself as a gifted songwriter, producer and performer. Lupa J has four EPs and an abundance of impressive tours under her belt and has supported Grimes, Sarah Blasko, Alice Glass (Crystal Castles), Tegan and Sara, Eves Karydas. Recently announced as support for Banoffee, it’s no wonder she has found huge international support with the likes of Stereogum, i-D Magazine and Rookie.
XIRA is the alt-pop solo project of Sydney-based Tamika Stanton. In just two tracks, she has achieved what takes many artists two or three albums. In an impressive first year, she released her first two singles that have already amassed over 27k streams and been played on Richard Kingsmill’s 2018 and Bridget Hustwaite’s Good Nights on Triple J. She has also played her first live show as support for Kira Puru, and most recently, signed a publishing deal with Native Tongue. XIRA has quickly proven herself as a powerful songwriter and a unique artist.
